Many artists were shaped primarily by lessons learned from family\, community\, work\, and spiritual experiences. Some paint on canvas but others depended on more readily available materials. \nThese outsider artists used discarded materials and everyday objects to create beautiful works of art. Both from rural South Alabama\, they are recognized for their range of subjects including animals around them\, people they knew or saw\, houses and buildings\, fruit\, and many things between. Jimmy Lee and Mose T’s distinctive works are exhibited in the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington D.C.\, the American Folk Art Museum in New York City\, and many more. \nThis exhibit would not have been possible without the generosity of the patrons of the Carnegie Visual Arts Center.
