Professionally, Tammie is a 24 year elementary art educator with Decatur City Schools. She is a 2025 NAEA Marion Quin Dix Award Winner, 2023 NAEA SE Region Art Educator of the Year, and 2022 Alabama Art Educator of the Year. Tammie has served as the Alabama Art Education Association’s president, secretary, N. Alabama Region representative, Scholarship Chairperson and chaired too many conferences to count.
Tammie is influenced by a variety of textile artists, namely the Gees Bend Quilters, Alabama artist Doug Baulos and UK embroidery artist, Jessica Grady. The free-form quilting and embroidery embellishments you see in her work, in large part, were shaped by her study of their individual craft. Tammie currently resides in Decatur, AL with her husband Gabe.
