Our Vision
Since our opening in 2003, the vision of the Carnegie Visual Arts Center in Decatur, Alabama, has been to provide educational and cultural opportunities to the community. Through our programs, collections, and events, we want to encourage a greater involvement in art at all levels and ages. Not only do we want our visitors and students to enjoy the visual art they view here at the Carnegie, but we also want them to leave with new and innovative knowledge they can share with the community.
Our History
Beginning as a Carnegie Library in 1904, our historic building was saved and transformed into an arts center in 2003 in an effort to bring art and art education to our community.

The Carnegie Visual Arts Center’s hard-working staff is committed to providing our community with creative and educational exposure to the arts.
