Artist Statement
“Art feels like the healed version of myself. It is my sanctuary, a space where I reconnect with softness, vulnerability, and the beauty of becoming.
As a Black woman, I’ve often felt the expectation to embody strength above all else. Through my work, I intentionally create space for what is just as powerful gentleness, tenderness, and the need to be nurtured.
Using mixed media, acrylic paint, and beaded elements, I honor the blossoming spirit of Black women. I see us as flowers, resilient, yes, but also radiant, delicate, and worthy of care. Each piece becomes a visual poem, watering the parts of us that are often left unseen.
My hope is that viewers are reminded that growth does not have to be harsh. Softness is not weakness, it is strength in its purest form.”
