Imaginary Friends: Works by Scott Vaughn Owen
- Jun 14–Jul 23, 2022
- Carnegie Visual Arts Center
Artist, Scott Vaughn Owen, creates in his studio in Columbiana, where he grew up. He attended the University of Montevallo and studied fine art. While attending school, he began an apprenticeship to a sign maker and has spent over 35 years designing and crafting signs all over the United States. In 2009, he picked up his paint brushes again. It is this combined knowledge and skill that is seen in his bold use of line and color. Owen says, “I love working on something without knowing the outcome, I sometimes bring a drawing or idea to the piece I am going to make but it never ends there.. I always see the holes in the drawing after the process begins.. I work with it until the they are part of the painting or I have given them new meaning.”
