“Every day I see the beauty in the world around me. Not always in things that are traditionally found beautiful, but…everything: the light on a fire hydrant, the reflections in a sink, a cloudy city scene that is along my daily drive. Sometimes the obvious things are beautiful, like a sunset, but most of the time, I see the world in subtle change of value mingled with bright spots of color, and what people call “the subject” is not of great interest to me, as my subject is light, color and atmosphere. I hope that when people look at my work, they think: I have felt light that, on a scene just like that, and it made me feel just like how that painting makes me feel.” – Jennifer Diehl
