Laura Grace Clark

Laura Grace Clark is a self-taught artist, calligrapher, and aspiring naturalist. She lives outside of Huntsville, Alabama with her husband, four children, and their two Golden Retrievers, Betsy and Tacy. She enjoys engaging others in the arts through teaching workshops on calligraphy, watercolor, and nature journaling. Working in multiple mediums, Gracie loves to convey the beauty and wonder she finds in the natural world.

Her series in the Connections exhibit explores the visible and invisible threads that bind us—to place, to one another, and to the natural world. Using local landscapes, bridges, the river and native plants as subjects, her work reflects on the different forms connection can take. “Bridges offer a literal and metaphorical theme of the things that unite us. Rivers suggest movement and transformation, while native botanicals remind us that we are shaped by the land we inhabit. Each piece is layered with elements of these themes, using a mix of watercolor, collage, and acrylic to convey the heart of this theme. These works are an invitation to notice what connects us to one another and the land that surrounds us.” – Gracie Clark
