Miriam (Maddox Jackson) McClung is an American artist from Birmingham, Alabama. McClung is known for her colorful, impressionistic paintings, particularly in oils and pastels. Her hometown’s landscape and people have been a consistent source of inspiration for her art. In 2018, Miriam was recognized for a lifetime achievement by the Magic City Art Connection in Birmingham, Alabama, as a celebrated woman artist in the Alabama art world.
Her work has been featured in shows and exhibits by the Alabama Pastel Society, Pastel Society of the West Coast, Birmingham Museum of Art Biennial, Birmingham – Hitachi, Japan Exhibition of Artists, Watercolor Society of Alabama, Huntsville Museum of Art Red Clay Survey, the University of West Alabama, Jacksonville State University, and churches and galleries in Alabama and the Southeast.
