He was born and raised in Mexico, in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco. He moved to the United States in 2013 to Huntsville, Alabama. He has participated in several art shows and collaborated on several murals. He loves nature and the outdoors and is inspired by the natural beauty of Alabama.
In the year 2020 he collaborated with Maximiliano Lizárraga Vidal to create a mosaic, Blue Fractals, on the walls of Lowe Mill Arts and Entertainment in Huntsville, Alabama. His studio is located on the third floor of Lowe Mill (studio # 312). Salcido considers himself a craftsman-artist and loves to work with color and experiment with different techniques. He explores ways to do art with his hands, his spirit and his soul.
“I use an oil painting technique that involves slowly building up layers of semi-transparent paint to create a realistic image. Photography is a major influence. Ideas for paintings come from photos I gather of family, friends, and outdoor activities. My goal is to enjoy describing the beauty of the Tennessee Valley with paint and brushes.” – Roberto Salcido
